Traditional flat-bottomed wooden rowboats (called 'nauka') are the most common and authentic option — propelled by a single oarsman, they allow quiet, unhurried river travel. Larger wooden boats can carry groups of 6–15 people. Some operators offer motorised boats for faster travel between ghats. The traditional rowboat is strongly recommended for sunrise rides as it allows close approach to the bathing ghats and complete silence for photography.
